I am Somoya Thomas, a student in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech), specializing in Journalism. My academic journey has centered on mastering the strategic integration of visual design, storytelling, and digital delivery. I focus on developing comprehensive media strategies that deliver measurable impact and resonate with diverse audiences.
My professional goal is to secure a role where I can utilize both my technical proficiency in production and my creative eye for visual narratives. I am driven by the desire to contribute to Jamaica’s advertising sector, or journalism, helping organizations translate their mission into engaging, high-quality multimedia campaigns. I am committed to continuous learning and leveraging emerging technologies to solve communication challenges.
Passions That Drive My Work
Outside of my academic requirements, my passion for film heavily influences my creative approach. I believe that effective communication is rooted in empathy and understanding diverse perspectives. This commitment is reflected in my work, particularly in my photojournalism portfolio, where I seek to document and share authentic human interest stories.
